Wonderful family - excellent portrait session.

What more can I say... I adore working with this family.

I met Paola and her lovely family at a Plano park last fall. I was leaning on a rusty bench packing up my camera gear from an earlier photo session. Bent over my bag, I felt a tap on my shoulder, and it was Paola asking, “Do you take family photos.”

I spun around and saw a beautiful family, all with great big smiles, and before I even knew it, the words came out, “Yes, I’d love to!”

Paola and I had some excellent conversations to follow on Instagram. I learned about her goal of getting some high-quality, professional photos taken for her new family. I like IG and Pinterest because we can trade ideas, and it helps me learn about what styling, aesthetics, and edits (also called filters) my clients prefer. There are so many possibilities when it comes to photography styles these days. It’s helpful to share a board or a feed to communicate ideas. The best news is that with two decades of experience in photo editing and manipulation software, I can pivot between various editing styles quite quickly.

My nephew, Jacob, whom you may recognize from previous blogs, helped me for this family portrait session. We arrived at the park an hour early. I like working with my nephew because he’s super great with kids, which is a huge help when breaking the parents out for lovey-dovey photos without the little ones. He is also clutch (is that still even a saying?) when it comes to scouting out and holding a premium location during peak times at the park. And, on this occasion, he held down one of our favorite spots. Go, Jacob!

Although beautiful at sunset, the late afternoon light can typically prove challenging to use. This evening was no exception. I had to pull out some tricks during the session, including taking the majority of the pictures in the shade to avoid hotspots, taking pictures backlit, allowing the warm glow of the sun to provide a beautiful hair light, and we bundled up some of the wildflowers in the field to hold between them. Paola and Luis are super friendly, and their kids have a great sense of humor - the photo session was a breeze.

We wrapped up after an hour, and I thanked them for allowing me the opportunity to photograph them. I then went home, uploaded the images, and got to work on the professional editing. I delivered the Lopez family photos within 48-hours, and the reviews from Paola were glowing! (I was delighted with them too.)

So when you are in need of updated, professional photos for social media, a special occasion, or for friends and family, just remember The Lopez Family and inquire about our portrait sessions today!

Cheers!
